Communications with feed, chat, and channels
Waymaker ‘Comms’ transforms how you can stay up to date with the critical information on your organization’s most important targets and actions.
Who needs a better chat service?
Leaders.
When we looked at how tools like MS Teams and Slack were being used in organizations it was clear they were being used for what they were built for, casual chit-chat.
Too often a channel gets full of gossip, funny memes, and what usually happens around the water cooler. After a while, users tend to ignore the digital junk mail spewing on to their feed.
Leaders and teams need relevant information on goals and outcomes to ensure decisions can be made faster and better with lower risk.
Less memes, more insights.
We’ve built Waymaker’s Comms to focus on the insights that matters for you to help your team hit their goals.
Comms includes Feed, Chat, Posts, and Channels.

The new Waymaker feed is your real-time update on critical communication. As work gets done, you get updated. Need to catch up on the day’s progress to outcomes that shift the needle? Simply scan your feed.
We know you’ll want to chat with colleagues and teams, so we’ve included Chat, Channels, and Posts to equip with the right tools for the right communication.
Chat allows you to message any person in your organization.
Channels are places you can bring one or more people together to collaborate.
Posts are comments you can make on goal and outcome feeds as collaborators or non-collaborators within the goal or outcome page.
Intelligent probability scores and recommendations
We’re committed to using AI in a safe, effective, and useful way to make it easier to lead yourself and your team.
Currently, goals show the progress and confidence of a goal. Progress is the actual progress of the metric you’re improving. Confidence is your confidence of delivering the result.
Today, we release a new leading indicator, an intelligent goal probability score. The probability score is calculated on the set of behaviors and actions taken within Waymaker on this goal. These goal activities are used by AI to calculate the probability of success if business as usual continues.
In addition, when the AI determines there is an improvement that can be made on the outcome, a set of recommend of actions are sent to the goal feed and the goal owner and collaborators are notified.

You will know these are AI recommendations as the notification in the feed is the icon of Waymaker AI, not the face of a fellow team member. It’s the same AI icon your familiar with when you are creating new goals using the AI goal creator.

Waymaker remembers past behaviors and recommendations to improve the accuracy of the recommendations it makes for you in the future.
Pretty cool, eh?!
You might like to think of Waymaker AI as an intelligent performance coach, helping you think through the possible options to smash your goals.
We don’t believe AI is there to replace a human, AI is the tool, you are the craftsman. However, this tool will give you insights to help make better, and faster, decisions that deliver results.
New goal and outcome pages and dynamic automations
We’ve listened to the feedback on the goal and outcomes editors. The goal and outcome editors are now faster, easier to use and takes 50% less screen real estate.
Getting to goals is easy, click on ‘Goals’, or click on any goal title anywhere in the platform to get to the goal detail page.
On the goal menu, clicking on any goal will slide open the goal summary. If you are the goal owner or editor, you can create or update information.
All data is now saved on entry.

The goal detail page is organized around three columns of information.
- Outcomes
- Charts
- Feed with updates
Clicking edit will open the Goal editor slider. There is a new “Actions” menu identified by the three dots. In here we’ve put dynamic, milestone, privacy, status, and function settings.
Switching on these settings does the following.
Dynamic: Makes the goal dynamic allowing for goal relationships and dynamic outcomes.
Milestone: Sets this goal as a critical milestone goal on your roadmap.
Privacy: Sets the goal as private and only you and any collaborator can see the goal and it’s outcomes. (Useful for professional development, or ‘special projects’.)
Status: Sets the goal as backlog, committed, in-progress, complete.
Function: Sets the goal to a function of the 7 Questions diagnostic (vision, market, strategy, business model, marketing, sales, service, or employee experience.)
Goal relationships
Goal relationships allow dynamic connections between outcomes (see below). Dynamic outcomes allow scaleable automation on outcome updates. This is one of the most powerful things we’re released. Dynamic automations allow outcomes to update each other based on one update.
To allow outcomes to automate which each other, first create a relationship between the goals that you want to relate to each other. When a goal is made dynamic, a new section called ‘Relationships’ appears below the outcomes listed on the goal editor.

Click ‘Add relationship’ and search for the goal. This allows you and your colleagues to see each other’s outcomes when creating dynamic outcome connections.
To do this you’ll click on the outcome and use the new outcome editor.
Clicking on any outcome will slide out the outcome editor.

We’ve simplified the outcome editor to focus on the elements that matter most. To update, simply edit the actual value (percentage, number, or currency) and then slide the confidence bar to your desired confidence.
We have moved the Waypoint editor into the ‘More’ menu which is accessible from the 3 vertical dots in the top right hand corner.
In addition, there is a new section on the outcome called “Connections”.
Connections show what is connected to this outcome.
There are currently two options.
1. Taskboards
Waymaker used to create a new Taskboard for every new goal and the goal to task board relationship was one to one.
Now, a new goal will not create a taskboard automatically. Rather, the user can relate an outcome through connections to an existing taskboard. This allows many taskboards to be connected to a single goal.
2. Scorecards
Waypoints provide data for scorecards. If an outcome is being tracked on on a scorecard then that scorecard will be shown as a connection on the outcome detail page.
Dynamic outcomes
Dynamic outcomes is outcome automation driven by parent / child hierarchy. Many outcomes on other goals can be related up to a single parent outcome on another goal. It is a many to one relationship. When any of the child outcomes are updated, the parent outcome automatically updates.
A good example of this is the relationship of a sales team to a sales manager.
If a sales manager has a sales target of $10m and each sales team member has a target of $1m each, then each of outcomes on the sales team member’s goals can be related to the sales manager’s goal and dynamically update the sales manager’s goal.
Dynamic outcomes can scale as much as you need them too. For example, if the sales manager was managing one territory out of three. Then, the parent outcome can become a child outcome as three territory managers roll up to a VP of Sales.
Dynamic outcomes operate independent of goals. This means outcomes on any goal can be dynamically connected. The only condition is they are the same metric (percentage, number, or currency) and the goals the outcomes are speaking to are related.
We’re always here to listen to feedback. Thank you to all those customers and partners who have provided input into this Waymaker.io update.
